It may seem crazy to pair chocolate and chickpeas, but damn, it’s a thing. We’ve made chocolate chickpea cake before and that is a great cake. Really, what are chickpeas but flour waiting to happen. So basically this is just hummus but instead of using garlic and lemon juice you add some cocoa and sweetness. You can whip up a batch in minutes, and served with fresh fruit this becomes almost a protein packed and healthy fondue. Try chocolate hummus dip once and you’ll try it again.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of cooked chickpeas or one can.

  • 1/4 cup of tahini or peanut butter (peanut butter version is awesome)

  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder

  • 1/3 cup of maple syrup

  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  • Put all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Transfer the dip to a nice bowl and voila.
  • You can mix in some chocolate chips if you have some and serve with cut, fresh fruit like apple, strawberry or banana for dipping.
