The summer of 2019 was chugging along just nicely when out of the blue we got an email from some friends we had made in Roatan. Come on down to Halifax they said. We’ll have a reunion of sorts. With that Kyla booked a couple of tickets to the coast and we took off for a 5 day adventure in Atlantic Canada. Our hosts were gracious and showed us all the great spots in and around Halifax, Nova Scotia.
From the Acadia Valley with it’s wineries and red sand stone beaches to Peggy’s Cove and the picturesque village of Chester we got the full tour or “tore” as they say. We had never been to Halifax other than that time we took a wrong turn and ended up passing through. It’s a nice town. Big enough to have all the amenities you want but small enough that it’s easy to get around. The country side is rolling hills spotted with villages and boutique distilleries and wineries to stop at and sample their wares.
The coast itself is beautiful and rugged, just like the song says. There were quite a few vegetarian restaurants in Halifax. I had probably the best eggplant parm sandwich that was ever created. All that to say, go to Halifax. It’s fun.
